UPDATE..

what were looking at doing is selling a one off event 't shirt', this will in effect be your ticket to the event as proportion of the t shirt cost will go towards running the event.

Also included in that cost of the t shirt will be a donation to a charity...
The charity we are going to support on this event will be the Welsh Air Ambulance service. I will post up more about this soon.

The idea of running a BBq in the evening of the middle days is now a goer, again more to follow

The event will have to some extent a workshop, the plan is to run it friday and monday to help those that want to do jobs on their bikes/repairs before the run home... we will have tyre changing gear/ compressor etc for those whishing to swap tyres for the off road runs.

Last up for this update I am currently talking with an off road center about the use of its land for a day.. more to follow

original post........
{i}for these that haven't read the 'XTZ.com future' thread over in the members section one reoccurring point is the lack of social side so...

I propose we consider a annual meet in 2010.

I also am going to be the boss and say that unless there is anyone else willing to organise such an event I will set a fixed location for the first one and from then on we can vote on an organizer, new location, date etc each year... I think to many options to start with just muddies the water!!!

I am going to appologuise to all non UK members straight away as just for this first one i think this has to be a UK location, again it maybe a nightmare to organise and i doubt the added pressure of it being abroad will help... this said i see no reason why it could not in the future be in mainland europe once we (I) have made all the screw ups!!

I also propose that although this is run as the S10 annual meet it is open to all makes and types of bikes (however it would be nice to have a good turn out of s10's!!!),

Currently i have the idea of using Anglesey/North Wales as the base, it would proved an easy location to sample Wales, the moors and maybe a trip up to the south lakes, it is a little off the beaten track but with good roads its easy enough for everybody in to get to regardless of if your coming from scotland, the south coast or ireland.

Dates... due to the logistics of this I am looking at a long bank holiday weekend, this gives people the option to do a day, a few days or make a week of it.

Site.... probably a conventional campsite, however if i can find it maybe sole use farmland, some sort of marquee, and a limited power supply (sure people will want to power up gizmos and so on)

agenda... err nothing fixed, but the usual ride outs, maybe get the working bee sorted, etc ... any suggestion welcome.

so there you have it....................

Sounds good, on the zx9 site our first meet was in someones back garden and we pitched up with tents for the night.....simple and easy, since then we have used bunkhouses, fairly cheap for a group and convienant

Sounds good, on the XRV forum they had a meet recently at the Ubley Drove? site in wales looked like plenty of space and an option of a bit of a playground if we wanted, could also open it up to the africa twins and the like and make it a big trailbike weekend? I think they could do camping but i dont know.

Hello ,

I can assure you that if you organise a meeting in 2010 a lot of friends from Germany etc.. will attend the meeting.
As I know most of them, we already have discussed the fact that it has been a long time ago since the U.K. people arranged a meeting.
I can assure you that I would be very glad to attend and that I will do my utmost to be present !!
Come on with it !!!
A lot of belgian greetings !!

count me in  would be good to meet some members and put faces to the names ,
just to clear things up about the riding is there going to be any off roadin i would prefer to ride down on road tyres so that would mean that i couldn't partake  but if it were more off roadin could fit knobblys and bring the trailer, ether way i am still up for it

I will sure try, if the family situation permits. We have an infant and her needs (and the government) comes first hand naturally. :happy-cheerleadersmileygirl: A minor inconvenience is that the ferries from Sweden have ceased, so I'll have to go via Norway to Newcastle. I am slightly leaning towards the pessimistic side.

'Currently i have the idea of using Anglesey/North Wales as the base'

Great, that's only a day's ride from Hull!! And beside the riding: Anglesey is GREAT for sea kayaking (I know, very wet, salt, cold, but absolutely spectacular).

I take it in general the thoughts so far are positive...

I'm not going to give toooo much away as i want to get a few people from the forum to cover different aspects (areas they know more about than me and have better contacts!)..

to cover the points so far:

I am looking at the idea of a split site so people get the choice what they spend... I may be able to get access to part of a private 250acre site (farm) its used by a company i know to teach off road driving to the police/utility companies etc and should with enough time be able to work out some thing, this site will be the main HQ, big tent, genny, and rough camping (no 'services') it should be cheap and only used by us. I am also looking at using a nearby campsite for those that want something a bit more up market (showers, wash area, shop etc etc) but this will be run under the campsites own rules (lock down 11pm-8am etc) and would cost those wishing to stay here more....

I am looking as this as 'being hosted by xtz750.com' and think it makes good sense to open it to all makes, the only restrictions would be the usual legal ones (bikes must be taxed, must be road legal.. that means comply to the noise regs too, etc etc ), certainly the Africa twin forum has been running its own events like this and i am sure Kymmy (who is a mod on both forums) would twist a few arms for advice and pass out invites as required. :violence-axechase:

As the forum is very international i'm keen that every possible step is taken to help anyone coming from outside the UK, in the past i have done both the main east coast ferry runs a fair bit (Newcastle to Stavanger and Hull to Rotterdam), nearer the time we could look at trying to get you guys a deal with a group discount and setting you up with a roadbook and gps data to get you onto the site without any problems.

Due to the fact some use there bike purely on road, some off road and others both it makes sense that there are:
two one day off-road ride outs...looking at the OS we could run a beginners day and a more demanding day ( found some pretty good green lanes!)
two one day road ride outs... not sure on what sort of milage people would want to do but i can se some nice quiet rides that run through the snowdonia park/lakes.
this way you can mix and match or just turn up for just one day if time/money is tight....
there should be no problem organising some sort of 'workshop' to help anyone wishing to tinker, repair bikes or swap tyres/wheels. it also stands we should be able to organise safe recovery of any bikes/riders from the ride outs back to the main HQ.

lol, yes Mattijsw its a great place... we were working at the Anglesey Race Circuit just a few weeks ago and managed to get some time on the beaches... if you like this sort of thing then there are a few little 'extra ideas' that you my like, more on that after i have done my homework. :naughty:

I would like to get half a dozen members to form a 'working' group for this, you will required to do a little homework and if it goes ahead be lumbered with overseeing one specific aspect...

obviously if you have a talent for certain areas this covers then please put your hand up or will have to nag a few people with PMs :D

I also need to put together a group ( or use the working group) to physically check the campsites, evaluate the tracks and roads we might use, you will also be needed to check out the pubs and scoff shops in the area over the next 6 months
